Death Takes A Holiday
Charles receives some expensive chocolates from home to carry out his family's tradition of leaving gifts anonymously at places like orphanages. When the camps Christmas party for the orphans is threatened the staff are all expected to contribute. Charles gives a tin of oysters and takes all of the criticisms about being a 'Scrooge'. It is only when Mr Choi, the owner of the orphanage sells Charles' gift on the black market does anyone find out. Klinger overhears Charles shouting at Mr Choi over this and then brings Charles a Christmas meal stating 'The source of this Christmas meal shall remain anonymous. It's an old family tradition'.
Say No More
When Margaret comes down with laryngitis, she is upset when she finds out that she may not be able to make a meeting in Seoul with Dr Chesler. Charles explains that she should go if the lecture means so much to her but it at worse it could delay her recovery by a few days. She decides that it wouldn't be fair to patients or the other staff at the 4077th so she decides it would be best to cancel the meeting. Charles however makes a phone call to Dr Chesler and manages to get him to the 4077th to meet Margaret. Margaret is speechless and thanks Charles with a kiss in the mess tent.
Morale Victory
Charles is devastated when he learns the soldier whom he performed surgery on, perfectly restoring his legs and leaving only one hand slightly damaged, is a concert pianist. Charles seeks advice from Father Mulcahy who advises that Charles should use his knowledge and love of classical music to show the soldier he has not lost his gift.
No Laughing Matter
Charles is desperate to get back to Tokyo and when he hears that Col. Baldwin is coming to the 4077th he's furious, that is until Klinger suggests that Charles kiss up to Baldwin to return to Tokyo. To start with, it doesn't seem like Charles is listening but when Baldwin arrives Charles is the gracious host and deliberately loses at cribbage to Baldwin. When Baldwin asks Charles to go and find some female company he takes $10 to Rosie's bar and finds a working girl. Unfortunately there is a misunderstanding and Baldwin thinks that Margaret is the woman Charles has arranged. Margaret is furious and calls in Col. Potter. Baldwin, aware of the consequences of his behaviour, bribes Charles to lie and say that Margaret was the one that came on to him and only went to Potter after he rejected her. When Charles is asked about the incident he tells the truth and refuses to lie to protect Baldwin whilst destroying a friend's career.
